Before starting WIFSA, Mark worked as a Financial Advisor for UBS Wealth Management in San Francisco and as an Agent for New York Life in San Ramon, CA. 

He earned his Masters' degree in Personal Financial Planning from Golden Gate University (GGU), where he has worked as a part-time Senior Adjunct Professor. He taught finance courses at both the graduate and undergraduate levels in corporate financial management, working capital management/treasury, and personal financial planning.  He earned his MBA at California State University, and his Bachelor's in Accounting & Finance at U.C. Berkeley. 

Before becoming a Financial Advisor, Mark worked as a Consulting Manager for Ernst & Young and Capgemini Ernst & Young. While there, he implemented world-class global financial information systems for leading multinationals and high-growth start-up companies. 

As a Corporate Controller, he helped build The Learning Company, a children’s educational software start-up, into a public company. 

As a financial controller, he helped several hi-tech multinational manufacturing companies expand their businesses globally. 

He started his career with Peat Marwick & Mitchell (now KPMG) as an auditor in downtown Oakland and in London, England. 

Through his professional work and love of travel, Mark has worked in or visited over thirty countries.
